Relief is designed to take the work out of creating real or surrealistic landscapes in 3D space. We’ve all wanted to create some really cool landscape and then fly through it like a jet fighter. However, once you started modeling out the landscape, it just didn’t look right. It either looked too clean or the bitmap you designed as a texture map didn’t fit the layout of the land.
Relief will let you design landscapes three different ways:
DEM to LWO lets you import USGS DEM files and create a perfect landscape based on the DEM. You can define scanning resolutions and exaggeration levels, or produce an exact replication of the DEM data.
BMP to LWO lets you take any bmp file and create a landscape object of the data based on the color differences.
DEM to BMP allows you to create color relief maps of the DEM data. You can define pixel resolutions and exaggeration levels of the bmp’s produced.
Relief creates a color BMP that is mapped onto your 3D object by Relief. The color range and size of the BMP are both controllable via the Relief interface.
